Here are some of the best parks to visit in the area, designed for a wide range of ages and activity levels.

  1. Minnehaha Regional Park

Join the more than 850,000 annual visitors and experience Minneapolis’ oldest park at Minnehaha Regional Park. Rent a bike or bring your own so you can explore the park via the bike trails with your kids, your partner, or solo. Families with young children will love the playground and tot area. The park covers more than 160 acres and features a huge 53-foot waterfall, so be sure to bring your camera.

You can take a leisurely stroll through the lush gardens and stop in the picnic area for lunch, then beat the summer heat by cooling off in the wading pool. If you’re feeling competitive, gather a group of friends or challenge your partner to a friendly game of disc golf or volleyball.

  1. Minneapolis Chain of Lakes Regional Park

As one of the most popular parks for locals and tourists alike, the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes Regional Park does not disappoint. For outdoor enthusiasts who love to be active, hit the trails or get out on the water and rent a canoe, kayak, boat, paddleboard, or bike. If you prefer team sports, get a group together and head to the soccer field, hockey rink, tennis court, softball field, or sand volleyball court.

This park is also well equipped for those who prefer to relax outdoors, with lots of beaches and gardens. They even have a fishing pier.
